Vicky, or anybody, I’m lost. I thought I had ‘signed-up’ yonks ago – but I seem to be out of contact. Re: blogging, I have set up my own site and am exploring how to use it, I think I need to change the address (toooo long!). Re: reviews – I sent you a review of “My Week With Marilyn” (only ten months late – but doesn’t that make it a bit of a ‘cult’ film?). It’s not that I expect a quick entry on the Electric Fleapit site – but then I don’t know how you transfer our input onto the site? Doesn’t a simple copy&paste do it?
If you are galivanting round the States – don’t they do the ‘world wide wait’? (‘not invented here’ syndrome?).
I attended the BFI Premier of “Turned Towards The Sun”, the film about the life of Micky Burn (the one I thought was going to premier in St Nazaire, amongst many other misconceptions!). When the BFI guy (I missed his name) invited Greg Olliver, the Director, down the front for what I believe is referred to as a Q & A session Greg took the mike and didn’t wait for the first question but opened with “Anyone who didn’t cry can piss off now” which in fact was an entirely appropriate comment, if you can accept the idea of ‘good tears’. I shall in due course give an attempt at a review my best shot, but it is such a monster of a film (even tho only 100 minutes) that it would stretch any linguistic scholar’s skill with describing the non-verbal aspects. I am trying to give my sister a (sort of) idea of the evening – which I hope will be a good limbering up exercise for the Fleapit review.
Well I will chuck this into the ether …. and see what eventuates?!
There is something wrong with this situation, it is not ‘two-way-communication’, I post … and nothing happens.
What IS going on (since communication ISN’T).
