Oldest Cinema in Ethiopia & Addis Film Festival

Whilst in Addis Abeba I visited the oldest cinema in Ethiopia, the Saitan Bet (House of the Devil), which opened in the 1920′s. It now functions as a cultural centre, known as the Mega Theatre. It also hosts an amphitheatre.

Also saw (on a news channel whilst waiting at an airport) that the Addis International Film Festival was taking place whilst I was there. It was the 4th year and was focusing on documentaries. I missed it obviously, but I am sure there would have been some great films that could be contenders for the coming Africa theme.
